Happy Tunesday!

Music has, and always will have, a special place in my heart.  I honestly don’t think I could go a day without it.  The radio however  isn’t exactly my first choice when it comes to listening to music.  Many of the stations, at least in San Diego, tend to play the same songs on repeat with little variation.  Because of this, I am constantly searching the web for the latest and greatest songs to listen to.  In fact, I do this often enough that I have become the go-to person for my friends when they are looking for new music which gave me an idea – why not dedicate a day of blogging to music?  With this I give you Tunesday — a weekly feature of my favorite new music, every Tuesday.

Though varying each week, this week’s Tunesday will focus on dance music.  Dance, a style of electronic music, is one of my favorite musical genres.   This is mostly because I like to dance.  In fact, I love to dance; so anything that gets my body going is sure to please my ears.  And because electronic music has actually gained quite a following in San Diego over recent years, I will probably focus on this style (and variations of it) more often than others.  With that said, happy listening and have a wonderful Tunesday!

Destination: Santa Barbara

Santa Barbara at dusk

This weekend I decided to take a brief trip to my college stomping grounds — Santa Barbara, CA.  I hadn’t been there since moving back to San Diego in September, and was really starting to miss it.  My favorite time to be in Santa Barbara is any time when the sun is shining, so after checking the weather forecast and learning it would be in the mid- to high-seventies all weekend, I made plans and headed north.

Interest in Pinterest

I have recently developed a newfound love for the social media site Pinterest.  Because of this, I wanted to take the time to let other people know about it, in case some individuals are still unaware.

According to their website,

Pinterest is a virtual pinboard [that] lets you organize and share all the beautiful things you find on the web. People use pinboards to plan their weddings, decorate their homes, and organize their favorite recipes…

Our goal is to connect everyone in the world through the ‘things’ they find interesting … With millions of new pins added every week, Pinterest is connecting people all over the world based on shared tastes and interests.

I personally learned about Pinterest during a lecture for a New Media Marketing class that I am taking.  The course professor, Becky Carroll, was lecturing on the popular social media sites of today, and Pinterest was the only one I had not heard of.  So after class I decided to see what it was all about, and have since become an avid user.

The "Pin It" Button is added to your bookmark bar for easy pinning

Using the site has been extremely convenient in planning my sister’s upcoming baby shower.  Instead of trying to bookmark a bunch of websites and save a ton of inspiring pictures on my computer, I simply “pin” anything that I find on the internet to a pinboard specifically created for planning her shower.  But what’s even more awesome is that anytime you “pin” something, that pin is directly linked back to the site where it was originally found, making it easy to access again at a later time.

Unfortunately, because Pinterest has increasingly grown in popularity, membership is now by invitation only.  With that said however, if anyone would like to join in on the wonderful world of pinning, please leave your email address in the comment box for this post, and I will happily send an invite your way! 🙂

True Beauty

While browsing Flickr in search of a header image, I stumbled across the photostream of photographer Eugene Ramos.  His images of San Diego are absolutely stunning, so I had to share my favorites.

Enjoy!

I’m Finally Doing It…

…writing my own blog, that is.

I cannot tell you how many times I have thought about starting a blog.  The problem is I always seem to find some sort of excuse that prevents me from doing so.  My main issue is typically not knowing what to write about.  I mean, who cares what I have to say, right?

Well, not so much.

I recently came to understand that the sole purpose of having a blog is to share your thoughts and opinions with the world.  Maybe you’ll gather a following in doing so, but maybe you won’t.  What’s important to remember however is that people read blogs because they are interested in what you, the writer, has to say.

With that said, I present to you San Diego Confessions – a place where I will share my thoughts, opinions, and curiosities about the world, with the world.  And even more so, as a fourth generation San Diego native, I find it only appropriate that I share with you my love for “America’s Finest City.”
